With all its previous bike races having taken place within a short drive or ferry ride of Singapore, Cycosports broke new ground with the Tour de Phuket by not only organising its first stage race, but also by deciding to hold it on the Thai island the race was named for.
Getting to Phuket, a world-renowned tourist destination, was never going to be a problem for the participants, but by overcoming new logistical challenges posed by air travel and a different set of cultural standards to put on a memorable event, Kent McCallum and his team further enhanced their reputation as one of the region’s leaders in cycling-events management.
We covered the race for Second Wind Magazine and the full race report can be found here.
