Cyclotourism is thriving, with people willing to fly near and far to take part in amateur stage races, cyclosportives and cycling festivals such as the CycleAsia series of events. Many of the more popular competitions are in countries on the well-beaten tourist path making for relatively easy logistics to get to and from these cycling contests.

Then there are the more exotic destinations … such as Mongolia.

Think Mongolia and images of horses, yaks and camels come to mind, not bicycles, but an extremely well-run event exists in the land of Ghengis Khan that is guaranteed to provide a thrill as well as perhaps what will be the toughest and most rewarding cycling experience that most entrants will ever undertake.

So opens a travel feature on the 2014 Mongolia Bike Challenge that Flat Spoke Media wrote for the recently launched
cycling portalCycleAsia.com. To read the full article visit www.cycleasia.com.

The 2014 Singapore National Road Cycling Championships were called off at short notice, much to the dismay of the local roadie community. We decided to look into the reasons why Singapore's most prestigious race weekend was cancelled and the not-quite-hard-hitting report was printed in the latest edition of Spin Asia magazine. A PDF of the article can be found by clicking here, or better still, head to your local Singapore newsstand or book store to by a copy of Spin Asia.

Fly6 Gives Cyclists Eyes in the Back of their Heads

We tested the Fly6 camera for togoparts.com and loved it, so much so that we'll be buying one ourselves.

The makers of the Fly6 Gen 2 rear light/video camera primarily market the hybrid device as an electronic eye in the back of cyclists' heads, and while it performs that task admirably, it has the potential to be a whole lot more than that.

    What we do

Welcome to Flat Spoke Media, which was inspired by its editor-at-large Alan Grant, a man who eats, sleeps and breathes cycling. As such our main aim is to explore and write about all things related to the pedal-powered world.

We also write social commentaries about life in Singapore through the eyes of an expat, as well as covering travel and the wider sports world.

Editing services are also part of our remit. Our years of experience in the editorial production departments of various regional newspapers and magazines puts us well positioned to polish copy from any walk of life.

We hope you enjoy Flat Spoke Media and look forward to your comments and suggestions on our content.
